"Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, worship His Holy Name.
Sing like never before, Oh my soul, I'll worship Your Holy Name."
A couple weeks back, my husband and I went to visit my grandpa and my aunt with my parents. There's no word to describe the kind of agony that moves within one's heart when in remembrance of such memories. We smiled because we know they are no longer suffering and that they are in a better place---a place where there's no hurt and no pain---we smiled because we have hope that one day we'll see them again.
In the picture to the right, we were both roughly the same age. Ain't it funny how no matter where we are in the world, we still matched? I think it's so ironic how we're able to find each other despite all the differences between us and how our lives unfold before us even when we had no idea what God was doing for us. For sure, God has a sense of humor in bringing us together because quite honestly, we have always been a part of each other's world... always and never knowing... never... until we met, fell in love, and said "I do". I think I'm all of the sudden inspired to write a story about how we met and came to be. Look for a post soon.
Anyway, moving along, my husband and I just spent an hour and a half watching the movie "In Time" with Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. At first, I hesitated because I just can't take Justin Timberlake seriously in these kind of roles. However, he did well. I enjoyed it quite much might I add. I can honestly see this happen in the near future where time is the new currency. Even now, the known motto in business is "time is money". In this movie, Justin plays a simple guy from the ghetto named Will Salas whose living day to day and basically running out of time. However, whenever he earns or can get time, he likes to share them with those around him because he doesn't believe that people must die so others can become immortals. One question that always comes up in the movie is "Do you have some time?" or "Can I get some time?" or "Can I borrow some time"? Take currency out of time and what do we get? Time. We can do a lot with time. For example, having time will allow us to make an income, time will allow us to lend a shoulder, lend an ear, or simply laugh and smile with some friends. Time is an important matter that often gets taken for granted. We can always make time for those around us---our families, our friends, our loved ones---if we choose to. I once asked an old acquaintance of mine for five minutes of his time. His cold response was that he didn't have five minutes for me. I reconfirmed that statement weeks later and I never looked back. Simply put, if a person can't spare five minutes of their life for you, what makes you think they deserve to be a part of your world? This year, I spent time reaching out to friends I cared about making sure they know that I'm there for them should they ever need a shoulder. I spent time out of the random blues to let them know that I care. Though I've gotten many positive feedbacks, I also got many cold shoulders stating that they were too "busy". This just ensures me that I'm spending my time with people whose worth spending time on. Let me just put this out there: Just because you read someone's status on facebook doesn't make you all up to date with someone's life. Sometimes it's nice to call and catch up. Sometimes a simple "How are you doing?" is music to one's ear. Never take time for granted, but more or less, don't take people for granted. You can have all the time in the world, but if you have no one to spend it with, it's worthless. Likewise, you can have all the people in the world, but if you don't make time for them, it's worthless also. Like dieting, do everything in moderation. If you have a moment, please watch "In Time".
Have a blessed weekend! =)
