Fleeing from Cam Teb (northern Thailand), we were heading toward Bon Vinai. That was the initial plan until we got news from my uncle in the states that we should take a different route. We ended up arriving at this town called "Xoom Nab Nyaus". We didn't know anyone. My dad and my uncle went to scout the area while the rest of us were in hiding. Many hours went by and we grew weary. Finally, they returned and reported to us some good news. They found someone whose willing to help us. "An uncle," They said, "One who believes in the Lord." This uncle helped found shelters and provided food. He gathered transportation and never left us to fend for ourselves. He became a dear friend to both my dad and uncle. He was our Moses in our times of darkness. To this day, his family have a special place in our hearts. He was a brother-in-Christ first before he was a stranger, and he loved us as God had commended us to love our neighbors. I call this uncle "Laug Vaam Meej". This past weekend, Laug and Puj laug Vaam Meej came to visit us in GA. We threw a feast and ate in commemoration of an unbreakable bond and relationship that once was and still is. Good friends are hard to find, but when you are blessed, you find the best kind of friends in the most unlikely places. We love and care deeply for you and your family, Laug and Puj laug Vaam Meej. Thank God for giving us each other. I was recently updated that my uncle has been ordained and is a pastor. It took me by surprise simply because I just never knew, but I see great things happening for the flock that he is tending and I praise God for a wonderful uncle!
"A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother."
