New Year.

Good-bye 2017!

While you were good to others, you were horrible to me. I will not miss you, but I am thankful for the lessons I've learned along the way. Below are some of my take aways:

  • There's no love like family love, then again no one can hurt you as much as family can. This previous year I've learned to take in the good, the ugly and the flat out nasty! I'm convicted, but sometimes I go to bed asking myself, "How can anyone live with themselves knowing what they're doing is pure evil?"
  • One of my goal for the year was to learn self-control, specifically control of my mind. Only God knows how much I've failed yet I've been given plenty of opportunities to practice. Marriage teaches me self-control. A mantra that I refer back to quite often is "You can't control what's happening but you can control how you respond to it". This really helps with re-shifting my train of thoughts.
  • It's okay to not respond right away, it's okay to put yourself first, and it's okay to say no.
  • True love is intentional.
  • We all need Jesus.
I have three goals for 2018:
  • Save 7K
  • Lose 40 lbs
  • Finish paying one school loan.
Life is precious. It's here today and gone tomorrow. In 2018, I will be intentional.
